Bruce Nolan ist erfolgloser Reporter und meilenweit davon entfernt, endlich der Anchorman seines Senders zu werden. Als sich wieder einmal alles gegen ihn verschworen hat, lässt er seinem Unmut freien Lauf. Nur einer kann an seiner Misere schuld sein: Gott! Dessen Antwort lässt nicht lange auf sich warten: Er überträgt Bruce seine göttliche Allmacht, die der natürlich mit Begeisterung auszunutzt. Bis die ersten Katastrophen geschehen. (kabel eins)

In der ersten Hälfte der Komödie Bruce Allmächtig findet man ein paar gute Witze und ein paar tolle Auftritte von Jim Carrey. Die zweite Hälfte ist aber nur eine weitere falsche und sentimentale Moralgeschichte für den naiven US-amerikanischen Mainstream.

If it weren't so family oriented and if there were more humor, it could have been a really funny movie. Like this it is for everyone, but ultimately for no one. But even in this politically correct form, it's good fun with some great gags and the great Carrey/Freeman duo. It’s just that the potential could have been exploited a little more, or a lot more.

The first half is fast-paced, funny and entertaining, I had a great time. But from the moment Bruce starts dealing with his emotional issues, the whole movie goes to hell. In the second half the screenwriter seems to have run out of ideas, the plot moves forward at a snail's pace and Bruce's clarification of his relationship with his partner is almost unbearable due to the level of sentimentality. But looking at the fantastic box office, I guess that's exactly what Americans want. Nothing for me. Oh, and one more thing, Jennifer Aniston, recently named The World's No.1 Celebrity, is a terrible actress.
