It's 1720 and the Great Northern War is over. Vice-Admiral Tordenskjold is one of the war's icons for having led the Danish fleet in countless victories against the Swedes. Among his feats he captured Marstrand (but failed to do the same with Gothenburg). In the calm of peace he feels lost and, against sound advice, sets off on a suitor's quest through northern Europe. He is doubtlessly the rockstar of his time and his trip turns into a tour of heroic tales with innumerous women. But in the shadow of admiration and idolization grow resentment and danger.
