Die Unglaublichen 2

The first one is better. I guess I didn't expect the second one to surpass it, but it's still one of the most entertaining Pixar movies of the last few years and definitely the best sequel. Brad Bird serves up some truly monumental action sequences, and there's no shortage of them. They can be breathtaking and spectacular when the fate of an entire town is at stake, and playfully entertaining and funny when Jack-Jack gets in on the action. Moreover, the script gives plenty of room for both Elastika's heroic antics and Mr. Incredible and his struggle with fatherly duties, and together, it's a great complement. Again, this is an excellent family action flick that doesn't try to go to great lengths to appeal to kid audiences. So it's a bit of a bummer that the plot itself is unnecessarily predictable and unsurprising, but not so much that it spoils the experience. Pixar has done a good job. (02.08.2018)

Same as the first movie, maybe too much. Although they do not play it safe in a typical way and merchandise advertising is not present like in the case of Cars, it is also not a question of moving the same concept up a level à la The Toy Story. And so, the connection between family and career and the struggles of adolescence with action and a predictable story continues to be addressed. This time the symbiosis of family film is broken; and so, there are passages for parents and passages for descendants, but few passages for both groups. The key is the mother-dad-daughter trio, both sons are clearly just makeweight. Jack-Jack was given more space, but his only proper role is in the grotesque escapade with the raccoon (it is absolutely perfect in itself), which, however, seems to have been a continuation of the Mozart short, but in the end, they decided to incorporate into a feature film using force. And so, in all that (as far as possible) serious line, its madness stands out like a sore thumb. What would like to be praised are the adrenaline-paced action passages, but as frequent and good as they are, only the introductory one is actually memorable. And so the only aspect that is significantly better, apart from the technical side, is the stylization and the overall concept; the creators can offer more than one enchanting scene. (06.08.2018)

The best animated film of the year. The Incredibles 2 is back after 14 years and it's wonderful to watch. The animation is top-notch, the action is phenomenal, the characters are fun and Jack-Jack is delightfully funny. I felt like I was watching a Marvel movie in Anime mode only. An unexpected surprise with a good villain and a nice twist. (31.10.2018)

Better than the first film in place, but also not quite as good in places, so it’s a draw. Despite the predictable story, it has so many fantastic twists that it doesn’t matter. Parents will find it easy to identify with the dark bad guy, because it touches a nerve when he tries to explain (chillingly) that TV just isn’t everything. Fourteen (!) years later, Brad Bird picks up where the excellent first film left off, reflecting the current role of women in society, putting the man on maternity leave. He sets up a mirror wherever he can. Jack-Jack, who pulls out all the stops, steals the entire movie. Giacchino’s music is maybe even sweeter than last time. (08.08.2018)

Am Anfang hat es mir ein wenig leidgetan, dass Pixar die vierzehnjährige Pause nicht genutzt hat, um die Hauptheld*innen älter werden zu lassen, und genau dort anknüpft, wo er beim letzten Mal aufgehört hat. Aber zum Schluss war ich angenehm überrascht, wie das Anknüpfen gelungen ist. Ich bin froh, dass der zweite Teil nicht von dem berüchtigten Fluch mancher Fortsetzungen betroffen ist und dass er nicht um jeden Preis in allen Aspekten größer sein muss. Im Gegenteil – er sieht dem ersten Film ziemlich ähnlich und ist fast so gut wie er. Fast. Der Sitcom-Teil mit Bob im Haushalt war großartig. Es ist toll, den ratlosen und erschöpften Superhelden zu beobachten. Um den Spaß kümmert sich vor allem Jack Jack, der ausgezeichnet ist. Leider hat der ganze Spaß den (passablen) Schurken-Plot irgendwie in den Schatten gestellt. Von dem werde ich mir vor allem die perfekte Animation und eine Gruppe von sehr seltsamen Helden merken. The wait has paid off this time. The first one remains untouchable, but most animated series would kill for a sequel of this quality. Perhaps the adults will enjoy Incredibles II more than the kids, because the childish jokes are few and far between and what comes to the fore is a story that manages to entertainingly combine the work and private lives of a family of five and, next to imaginative action scenes, inadvertently serves the superhero version of female social emancipation. Perhaps I expected it to be funnier and visually bolder, but I’m very happy with the final result and I will say right away that if Brad Bird is left at the helm, I will wholeheartedly welcome another sequel. At least Jack-Jack and Frozone, with Samuel’s traditionally delicate voice acting, still have plenty to offer. (29.10.2018)

Nach vierzehn langen Jahren haben wir die Fortsetzung eines der besten Pixar-Klassiker gesehen: Die Unglaublichen sind zurück und immer noch voll dabei! Der zweite Film bietet eine gute Dosis flotter Action, solide Animation und viele lustige Momente, vor allem mit dem kleinen Jack-Jack und der guten alten Edna. Was die Krimihandlung betrifft, so war sie etwas durchsichtig, was in einem anderen Genre vielleicht ein Problem gewesen wäre, aber hier handelt es sich um einen Film, der in erster Linie für den Durchschnittszuschauer gemacht wurde. Tatsache ist jedoch, dass man nach dem Anschauen des Drehbuchs von Coco etwas mehr von zeitgenössischen Animationsfilmen erwartet - was keine Kritik ist, sondern eher eine Erinnerung. Es sind vor allem zwei angenehme Kinostunden mit der "roten" Familie, die es zumeist schafft, sowohl mit den Bösewichten als auch mit den Nöten des Familienlebens umzugehen. (16.09.2018)

I think the creators could have done a better job concerning the predictability of the story to keep me in suspense a little, but I decided to turn a blind eye to that. I really enjoyed Jack-Jack's superpowers. It's just nice to have a laugh at such silly stuff :-) (10.03.2019)

I'll be in the minority here, but for me it's still better than the first installment. The Incredibles sequel actually goes much more in depth on the family issues, and most importantly isn't afraid to plant an even more complicated evil into the plot than the previous installment. While the central plot is predictable, the character of the main villain aptly reflects the risks and confusions of today's times, where the greatest danger by far is the virtual environment and the unlimited ways to misuse information technology for your own interests. The film is once again pushed high above average among animated films by the very respectable action scenes and of course the Incredibles family in all their glory, where the brutally cute Jack-Jack still steals almost all the attention for himself.
