Major Motoko Kusanagi soll innerhalb einer Task Force im Auftrag von Daisuke Aramaki - Chef der Öffentlichen Sicherheit - Hacker-Angriffen nachgehen, die offenbar von Colonel Kazuya Sogas Team initiiert werden. Diese Spezial-Crew muss sich Motoko Kusanagi allerdings erst zusammenstellen. This confirmed what I began to think after the first film. It's visually pleasing, the animation is good, and at times quite pleasantly experimental in what appears around the main characters, but plot-wise, it's just dull. It tries to be thoughtful, forgets about action, but ultimately doesn't tell you anything substantial.
