Animal

Animal ist auf den ersten Blick ein Paradebeispiel für einen Monsterfilm, in dem ein Haufen unterschiedlicher Menschen an einem relativ abgelegenen Ort mit einem Monster zu tun hat, das von Gott weiß woher kommt. Positiv ist, dass es in diesem Film nicht zu viele nervige Figuren gibt, und auch die Autoren waren in Bezug auf Geschlecht, Hautfarbe und Orientierung vielfältig. Allerdings fehlte es ein wenig an einer Begründung, woher die Kreaturen eigentlich stammen. Abgesehen davon war ich auch etwas verwundert (SPOILER!), dass in der ersten Stunde des Films fast niemand stirbt, während in der letzten Viertelstunde fast die gesamte Besetzung ihr Leben verliert, was nicht heißen soll, dass es alle zehn Minuten einen Todesfall geben sollte, aber es schien so, als hätten sie am Ende nichts mehr zu drehen gehabt, also haben sie fast alle getötet (ENDE SPOILER!). If you are content with the fact that you cannot expect anything extraordinary from the movie "Animal" - and you won't get anything like that either - you will realize that this is really something that suits you, it is a ride from beginning to end, nothing is unnecessarily stretched out and there are scenes that are mainly in line with the viewer's expectations and the effect it is supposed to evoke on them. I enjoyed it, which was enough for me to be satisfied in this case. (19.05.2015)

If you’re looking for a technically solid horror movie about pretty people that get naked in nature and get butchered by a monster, devoid of artistic ambitions or surprises, which simply delivers what you expect from it, then Animal is a pretty good choice. Terror it won’t cause, unpleasant tension, rather. The jump-scares are cheap but effective. If we compare it with Creature, Animal is a miracle, basically. So, given the possibilities and the competition, it’s fine. In the immediate uncritical feeling, I’m almost tempted to slap it with an above-average fourth star, I had good fun. (17.06.2014)
