Zwei Jahre ist es her, seit Mark verschwunden ist, niemand hat ihn mehr gesehen - jeder hält ihn für tot und das Gerücht macht die Runde das er von Aliens entführt wurde. Eines Tages jedoch kehrt Mark zurück. Doch er ist nicht mehr derselbe. Er hat sich verändert - aus ihm ist etwas Unmenschliches geworden. "Almost Human" is not a film that should signify a complete revolution in cheaper production, but it is certainly not a film that underestimates the creator either. It is evident that there was a genuine effort to achieve the desired effect, to interpret a relatively classic story slightly differently, more oppressively, and to add quite interesting and gritty scenes to it. The result turned out very well in the end, and even though it may not succeed in cinemas, especially not in the Czech ones, it would be a shame to ignore this film.

I root for every cheap indie flick, and I was hoping Almost Human would be better, even if this style of straightforward slasher flicks from the 1980s is not precisely my cup of tea. What I missed the most was perhaps some mystery around the transformed main character, some ambiguity. But that’s not the case here at all. The script is about nothing. Slightly funny. 5/10
