Der ehemalige Knastbruder Dennis (Paul Giamatti) und sein Kumpel Rene (Paul Rudd) haben Großes vor. Mit dem Verkauf von Weihnachtsbäumen in New York City wollen die beiden Kanadier endlich auf ehrliche Weise ihren Lebensunterhalt verdienen. Dennis muss aber erst noch verdauen, dass Rene inzwischen mit seiner Frau zusammen ist. Auch New York zeigt sich in der Vorweihnachtszeit nicht gerade von seiner idyllischen Seite, bittere Kälte und skrupellose Konkurrenten machen Dennis und Paul schwer zu schaffen. Ihre Freundschaft wird auf eine harte Probe gestellt. (ServusTV)

A pseudo Christmas movie that wants to take a slightly different path and tries to be less joyful. Throughout most of the film, we follow two buffoons trying to sell Christmas trees, two criminals each attempting to make things right in their own way. Paul Rudd is not annoying once again, this time it's Giamatti who manages to draw all the negative attention to himself. There are moments here that tend to become powerful, but in the end, you will still feel like the movie is about nothing. Long live the magic of Christmas!
