Im Jahr 1217 führt der gealterte Dschinghis Khan seine unbezwingbare Armee von Mongolien bis nach Afghanistan. Seine Soldaten sterben an der Beulenpest, aber der Eroberer weigert sich, die Unvermeidbarkeit des eigenen Todes hinzunehmen. Er schickt einen Trupp nach China, um dort Qiu Chuji zu finden, einen taoistischen Priester, der dem Vernehmen nach den Weg zur Unsterblichkeit gefunden hat. Der Trupp unter Führung von Liu Zhonglu dringt in die Shandong-Provinz ein, wo Qiu zurückgezogen lebt. Obwohl es heißt, er sei schon 300 Jahre alt, ist dem Priester klar, dass er nur noch 300 Tage leben wird. Als Liu droht, sein Dorf dem Erdboden gleichzumachen, stimmt er zu, die Soldaten zu Dschinghis Khan zu begleiten. Auch, um den großen Khan davon abzuhalten, weiterhin diesen Pfad von Tod und Verheerung zu beschreiten. Aber die Reise ist lang, und so führt er einen Sarg mit sich ... I’d been looking forward to a great Asian historic movie that would showcase the local culture, teach me a little something and that would be carefully and properly made for the whole thing to make for a truly epic experience. That’s the way it usually goes for me with movies like these – if things don’t work out like that, the movie must be pretty bad. An End to Killing is a case in point – it’s pretty bad. Most of the important scenes full of action were ruined by the shaky camera. I also had a problem to find my way around the story. As the time went on, I realized what the master actually wanted and who he was after. What’s most amazing is actually the plotline itself where Genghis Khan realizes that he is cruel and he invites a monk who is supposed to teach him humility. He then indirectly kills him and thus discovers that he is worse than he was. Which kind of sums it up. The cinematography is terrible, so you will only find out when the authors spell it out for you in the addendum. The entire time I had no idea what was going on, where everybody is, the editing was terrible, the story really difficult to grasp. It’s a pity. Movies like this should work out really differently.
