(Walt Disney Deutschland)

Englisch Cute, that's for sure. But the 4* are reluctant. Considering the large team of writers, I expected much more sophisticated humour, with better punchlines and not so infantile. It is definitely not a "Shrek-like" explosion of references, quotes and double entendres. The really funny situations (a hippie pacifist Hendrix fan vs. a military vehicle) won't be picked up by small children, who will be happy that the animation is perfect. The moral by the end was alright. ()

Englisch The trite truths of life provided in the most sympathetic packaging. I have never been so genuinely entertained and moved at the same time. If you like to take to the roads behind the wheel, you’ll definitely enjoy this. ()

Englisch Once again, a Pixar movie, while watching which it was not clear whether I am a child or my sister. I saw such a one-way trip to the world last time in Monsters, but while back then it was all about cuteness and imagination, here I willingly got caught up in moral messages, sympathetic cars, breathtaking racing atmosphere, and (it's strange to say) sincere and sufficiently light-hearted romance. And in the end, even moved by a surprising cascade of tears. Lasseter is doing it again. ()

Englisch Excellent. I have loved cars ever since I was little and this was just perfect. Pixar celebrated its twentieth anniversary in great style. He embellished a classic Disney story with a completely new universe full of cars, each one cuter than the other, whether we’re talking about the self-confident Lightning McQueen, Mack the truck or Sally (darn, I fell in love with a Porsche ;). The story may not be as original as they tend to be with Pixar, but this small drawback is made up for with such care that you (or a car) have no reason to complain at all. By the way, this is the first time this year that I laughed out loud in the movie theatre. PIXAR IS THE BEST. I recommend staying till the end of the credits, it’s worth it. ()

Englisch So what if form trumps substance? Did anyone expect speaking cars to philosophise? Cars may be a weaker Pixar movie, but it doesn’t deserve less than four stars from me. ()

Englisch Great premise + gorgeous animation + a witty story for kids and adults alike = one of the best animated films I've ever seen. Its immense popularity is certainly warranted. ()

Englisch Currently, it doesn't look so great anymore, but coming up with the idea that cars will be in the lead role, using their characteristics and humanizing them a bit, that was truly a win. Children, especially boys, like cars, and even today, perhaps thanks to the constantly renewed interest, I still see little kids enjoying "Blesk" or "Burák" (Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater in the Czech translation of Cars). And I like it too. Today, the film has been extended with sequels, like "Planes," but this first one is still entertaining. ()
