Madame Pigot beauftragt den Ex-Polizisten und Privatdetektiv Choucas mit der Suche nach ihrer verschwundenen blinden Tochter. Kommissar Coccioli rät ihm, den Fall nicht weiter zu verfolgen – und weckt damit das Interesse von Choucas. Bei einem Treffen wird Madame Pigot erschossen, doch Choucas kann gerade noch entkommen. It's certainly not bad, but it's a too conventionally written and directed crime thriller, which Delon clearly tailored to himself. It is the essence of motifs and style that brought Delon to the peak and at the same time, the protagonist's confident behavior approaches the characters played by the other great star of the French crime genre, Jean-Paul Belmondo. Inspector Choucas goes through the story completely unaffected by his companions, let alone by any gunshot, a cunning enemy attack, or unexpected situation. His partner experiences less emotion during the rape than when she lights a cigarette. In fact, the characters resemble comic book superheroes in their sovereignty. However, both of Delon's directorial attempts are the better ones and within his filmography, they are a decent average. Worth mentioning is the extremely charming Anne Parillaud, as Delon truly had taste in choosing his mistresses. Overall impression: 65%.
