Als Bart Cordell das Erbe seines Vaters antritt, wird er Herr über ein Konglomerat verschiedener Industrien und eines Pressehauses, das eine von seinem Vater selbst gegründete meinungsbildende nationale Zeitung herausgibt. Der Tod des Vaters bleibt zuerst im Dunkeln, denn er ist bei einem Flugzeugunglück gestorben, als seine Maschine über den Alpen explodierte. Für den 37jährigen als Playboy bekannten Erben beginnt eine Zeit schwieriger Verhandlungen um die Fortsetzung der väterlichen Geschäfte. Kaum jemand in der Öffentlichkeit weiß, wie gut Barthelemy sich bereits in der Welt der großen Unternehmer auskennt. Und dass er mit der Italienerin Giovanella verheiratet ist und einen Sohn namens Hugo hat. Doch als Bart von Amerika nach Paris reist, ereilt ihn eine Reihe von Unfällen, die nicht auf Zufall beruhen kann. Er engagiert einen Detektiv, der erst einmal mit ihm nach Genf reist um herauszufinden, was den Flugzeugabsturz verursacht hat. Bei seinen Recherchen stößt Bart auf Luigi Galazzi, einen mächtigen italienischen Großindustriellen, den sein Vater nicht schätzte – und der der Vater seiner Frau ist. (Verleiher-Text)

In the context of so-called Belmondo films, it is a weak endeavor, and I wouldn't hesitate to say one of the weakest. This is not only because Belmondo is not here as a quote-happy plebeian, but he is a member of the country's financial elite and actually the planet's as well. Elegant suits and luxury do not suit him as well as the negligent attire of a police officer or a gallery attendant. The whole story about a left-wing industrialist and his fight against evildoers and war criminals, as well as the conspiracy against him, is poorly conceived and unbelievable. A businessman pursuing criminals in a man-to-man battle is suitable for Batman, but not for a crime story that tries to appear serious. Here, it eventually sounds strained and unintentionally funny. Overall impression: 40%. Some moments, like his relationship with a prostitute who almost destroyed him with false evidence, are beyond basic logic and what I am willing to tolerate from a screenwriter...
