What can I say, this series has such a high rating because of Lee Min-ho's beautiful eyes and the awesome OST. The story isn't that great, and the series didn’t escape a few hiccups. Somehow it didn't pull me in. I kept waiting for something cool (I admit I enjoyed Lee Min-ho's action scenes, not to mention they had beautiful sound, but otherwise?), something that would draw me in. And I did get that feeling for a bit during episode 12. Just for a bit, then it went downhill again. What the hell do I need with all sorts of romance storylines in the meantime, and those ones and that one and his necktie? Who cares about any love, heart-rending scenes of lovers when it's all about revenge, action, and corrupt politicians! :-D No, but seriously. Kim Na-na got on my nerves, acting tough, talking shit, then City Hunter had to act like that too. Hmph. Fine, comic relief, and fine, a few scenes of the many "theoretically romantic" ones were good. Good in the sense that I didn't feel like skipping them and I listened to what the characters had to say (or where they wanted to stick their noses). But I still have to pick on the lack of logic. Why? Why? Why? I had to ask myself during some of the scenes (and in truth there weren't many of them). Moreover, as I noticed, the best thing to do with a wounded person is to shed tears/shout their name. After all, why would you call a doctor? A heartfelt word and a tear of love will heal any stabbing/gunshot/fist/pipe/car wound. Anyway, the penultimate episode came as a bit of a shock to me; the only character I'd grown to like over time, and they kill her off. Why? For effect? I mean, they don’t even address it afterwards. Nothing. She just croaks and nobody asks any questions. :-( Shockingly lame. Fortunately, the last episode brought me another positive (a small one, but I was blown away by it): I've never seen such a beautiful look full of suffering; for that Choi Il-Hwa immediately rose in my personal ranking of "older Koreans". And of course, the ending had to be full of strong emotions and gunshots. Even Kim Na-na got her shots in. And God, at that moment it looked like a nasty revenge that he dared to shoot xxx. After all the tragedies and deeds on their shoulders, it ends too "hand in globe" with too much – lol – smiling until you’re blinded by it (and we're not just talking about the leads, the scenery around them just had to tell it all with smiles – unnecessary and annoying). Luckily, they threw in a nice song at the end... and a dedication. Still, all in all, a better 3 stars. (05.08.2011)

City Hunter rests on a great plot and especially on the amazing Min-ho Lee, who we, his fans, just love. I found Nana pretty bland at first. But later on I fell in love with her because of her attitude towards the whole thing. It just bothered me that the writers made her a fragile flower girl for a while and a martial arts master for a while after that. Just whatever suited them. But such flaws are common in movies and TV shows. I had a similar experience with the soundtrack. At first I wasn't really into it, but by the end I became totally addicted to it. Even though I told myself about ten times that this dorama is overrated, I still give it 5 stars in the end. And yes, I admit, Min-ho Lee's eyes play a part in it. (20.07.2013)
