After many years of estrangement, twins Maggie and Milo lead separate lives on opposite sides of the country. When both feel that they're at the end of their ropes, an unexpected reunion forces them to confront how their lives went so wrong. For Maggie, that means re-examining her marriage to sweet "nature frat boy" Lance and her own self-destructive tendencies, while Milo must face the pain of an early heartbreak he never quite got past. It occurred to me that the whole film stood and fell by Kristen Wiig starring in it. But maybe it was just because I fell a little in love with her in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. However, she was not the only actress backing this movie. Luke Wilson and Bill Hader also delivered some very decent performances, so this independent American drama became quite a pleasant affair. This is mostly thanks to the actors, who are the most important element in movies like this. Had it not been for their excellence, this film would have been average.
