Boog, Elliot und all ihre Freunde aus dem Wald erleben ihr bisher rasantestes und plüschigstes Abenteuer - diesmal in einem Zirkus! Da Boogs Kumpel das jährliche Männer-Wochenende absagen müssen, macht Boog sich alleine auf den Weg. Unterwegs begegnet er einem fahrenden Zirkus, in dessen Vorstellung er in die Rolle eines ihm ähnlichen Grizzlybären schlüpft. Doch als der Zirkus nach Russland zurückkehren will, beginnt für Elliot, McSquizzy, Herr Wiener und die Gang ein Wettlauf gegen die Zeit, um Boog zu retten, bevor es zu spät ist! Why it's still called Open Season is hard to say anymore, but it's clear it's due to the characters. Characters that are no longer even remotely funny and just show that for creating an animated feature film, you don't need a good script, just inertia. If there's going to be a fifth film, then anything is possible.

The series lost most of what I loved so much about the first Open Season somewhere around the middle of the second one. The third film capped off the sad mess with an extremely boring story and much cheaper looking animation.
