San Francisco, 1957. Der Verleger Lawrence Ferlinghetti muss sich vor Gericht verantworten. Das von ihm veröffentlichte Gedicht "Howl" des jungen Dichters Allen Ginsberg gilt der Staatsanwaltschaft als "obszönes" Machwerk und die Publikation damit als strafbarer Akt. Während in dem aufsehenerregenden Prozess darüber gestritten wird, ob es sich bei "Howl" um ein Kunstwerk handelt, gibt Ginsberg einem Journalisten ein ausführliches Interview. You see, the artists of Hollywood decided to turn into a movie this perverse poem from a time when Beatniks were driving America apart and they decided to take a strange approach to it. A court drama alternates with B-list animated scenes and interviews with actors. I couldn’t find anything interesting about it and once they started talking about Moloch it took a lot of effort to watch it until the end…
