Unfortunately I can't join the mass of admirers of this series. Why? In the following lines I will try to explain, to outline; but I warn you that I probably won’t be able to avoid spoilers. The first few episodes (read: six and a half) didn't really excite me; on the contrary, it took me quite a while to get through them and I must admit that I skipped some scenes. As our hero's tragic youth passed, his twenties came into view, where he and his "brother" joined the state security force side by side, and he fucked up his very first assignment because of trauma, of course. Then he cried, got fired, only to be rehired and given a secret assignment that left his nerves on edge. Not to mention the annoying heroine who poisoned the atmosphere of the entire series with her boundless love and worry and self-centeredness – you probably put it together that I didn't like the main character at all. And then it was all about traumas from childhood or the recent past – once your head is bandaged, you lose your memory (the protagonist was apparently quite unstable, even though he played a badass fighter in Thailand, which I found truly hilarious that he fought with his little fly hands in a sport where little skewers like that are broken, but I digress; and then, luckily, his clothes covered them so you didn't have to get so upset), characters are killed off who could have cut the show in half, we all carry our gloom in our hearts to be used against us, and the main thing is that we're all so completely intertwined that it seems like the world is made up of just a few disorders and orders, and a terrible coincidence – hello, bumpkin neighbor. The action scenes were few and far between, but that didn't bother me because most of them weren't worth much (even the car chase was pretty cheesy and the way they were shooting during it, well...). The music didn't impress me either, but what can you do, I'm not so into those Korean dirges anymore. As for the characters, the most interesting were Mao and the boss – both good buggers. The main character was a crybaby and after his transformation he became this kind of chewed up mobster badass, and it was pretty rough at first, then he got better, but that didn't last long and he was back to crying and spitting at fate and refusing sex. The heroine annoyed me more with her actions than anything else. But yeah, she's pretty; seeing her in a different role would probably make me happy. And the third member of the trio... he was just a third member of the trio. He was the type that doesn't pick and choose in a trio, but has to settle for whatever the other two throw or set up. In short: it was a Greek drama, but with the added bonus of three chocolate scoops of cliché drenched in weird romance and sprinkled with illogical behavior from most of the characters. I admit without scruples that it had its bright sides and there were moments when it was fine; unfortunately it had a lot of lumps. This kind of batter did not make for a good cake.
