Superb monster horror flick. The at times annoying behaviour of the characters is compensated by a perfect atmosphere, great pace and a short run. At some point things get going and don’t stop until the end, delivering one atmospheric/bloody/dirty scene after another. And the nature of the monster is in itself very nasty, which is a basis for success. A must-see forgotten gem.

Dieser vierte Teil ist schwächer, aber er ist da. Der Aswang (eine mythische Kreatur aus dem philippinischen Volksglauben) wirkt zehn Jahre älter, als er tatsächlich ist. Für mich ist das nur gut. Es passt perfekt in die 80er Jahre, sowohl mit der Art der Aufnahme (kriechendes Kamera, möglichst wenige Schnitte), als auch mit seiner Atmosphäre, die durch einfache, aber düstere Musik unterstützt wird, und nicht zuletzt durch gelungene Masken. Es ist definitiv eine gute Idee, sich keine Details über den Film anzuschauen, denn gerade diese Monster sind der interessanteste Faktor. Und Achtung, es gibt auch eine Axt und eine Motorsäge. Ein solider Film, vielen Dank für den Tipp, Jungs. (70%)
