Laid to Rest

Ich weiß ja nicht... die erste Hälfte dieses "Wunders" ist unglaublich schlecht, die Hauptdarstellerin hat zwar riesige Brüste, ist aber absolut ungeschickt und kann einfach nicht schauspielen. Über die anderen will ich gar nicht erst anfangen, nur Kevin Gage war ganz in Ordnung. Und natürlich der Killer mit der Chrommaske, die er sich aufs Gesicht geklebt hat. Damit komme ich zur zweiten Hälfte. Überraschenderweise bleibt sie nicht mehr nur auf einer Stelle, sondern kommt richtig in Fahrt. Die Arbeit des Killers war großartig, richtig brutal, die Maskenbildner und Effektmacher haben sich wirklich ausgetobt. Also am Ende hatte ich einen besseren Durchschnitt. Vielleicht schaue ich ihn mir noch einmal an, aber diesmal nur die Morde, der Rest ist nur Beiwerk. (09.02.2010)

Flawless B-slasher with a cool killer who doesn’t pull any punches and mows down anyone who gets on his way. The characters and their interactions do generate mixed feelings, but the murders are awesome – you just don’t see such good gore every day. Laid to Rest also has a very good atmosphere, and despite not being very scary (though there are a couple of scenes), it’s just as entertaining as the recent and equally good Midnight Movie. However, if the intention of the director was to make a horror movie where you can root for the hero with all your heart (as I’ve read somewhere), then he has failed. In a film with this much gore, there’s only one thing you want: “Kill them all, mate!” Edit: On a second viewing, the stupidity of the characters became unbearable and I’m reducing the rating to 3*.
