Befolge die Regeln oder stirb! Ahnungslos eingesperrt in einem kalten, trostlosen Raum beginnt für Tonya (Alisa Marshall) und dreizehn “Mitspieler“ ein blutiger Kampf ums Überleben. Mit elektronischen Halsbändern gefesselt und von unzähligen Kameras überwacht, beginnt für sie ein tödliches Spiel. Sie erhalten immer wieder scheinbar sinnlose Hinweise einer mysteriösen Stimme. Immer wenn das Licht erlischt sind sie ihrem Killer schutzlos ausgeliefert. Sie müssen auf grausamste Weise erfahren, dass wieder einer unter ihnen auf bestialische Weise getötet wird. Saw was a smart movie, no matter what you think of its sequels. Cube was also a clever film, but I really only enjoyed the first film in the series. Breathing Room is just a parasitic exploitation of an interesting idea, which remains completely unused. There's not an ounce of inventiveness here, not even an attempt to tell a story that's the least bit interesting. It's also quite badly shot.

This what Saw LXIV will look like. Breathing Room is a very cheap looking representative of reality-horror (several people are locked somewhere and they don’t know how they got there and why) that doesn’t care about the logical behaviour of the characters or their psychology. And yet, I was curiously waiting for the ending, to see how things would turn out, and they turn out really weird (thumbs down). If the ending was better, I would add another star, but this time I have to be strict. 30%
