Nachdem er sich Hals über Huf in Giselle verliebt hat, muss Elliot auf seinem Weg zum Traualtar noch einen kleinen Umweg einlegen, als Mr. Weenie von einer Bande verwöhnter Schoßhunde entführt wird, die ihn unbedingt zu seinem einstigen Besitzer zurückbringen wollen. Boog, Elliot, McSquizzy, Buddy und die übrigen Waldtiere starten eine groß angelegte Befreiungssaktion, um ihren wurstförmigen Freund zu retten, und finden sich bald selbst im Feindeslager wieder: in der Welt der Haustiere. Angeführt vom Pudel Fifi wollen die Stubenhocker Mr. Weenie nicht kampflos ziehen lassen. Kann ein kleiner Pudel WIRKLICH etwas gegen einen 900 Pfund schweren Grizzly ausrichten? Englisch Considerably worse than the first one. With the change of director, Open Season lost its greatest asset: the relentless barrage of verbal and visual gags that made me like the first one so much. It’s a shame. ()

Englisch "The hunting season" was not a particularly brilliant animation, but here and there it entertains with a few new witty lines, in this case spoken by a deer who has a little trouble with his antlers. Simply put, it's just your typical animated loser, following the example of Sid from "Ice Age". The duo collaboration between the deer and the bear doesn't work at all, the jokes are worn out, pseudo-grotesque, which I don't think will interest children too much, maybe only those who still enjoy watching those cute characters hopping and yelling. Why give the film anything more than that when parents with children will go see it anyway, or at least buy the DVD. Commercialism will eventually kill art, and if not art, then definitely originality. That is already in very short supply.
