This creepy, gory horror flick is based on the true story of the Taylor-Eriksson group, a New Age cult in India that took a sharp turn toward the dark side of "self-experiencing," with mutilation and mysterious disappearances. (Verleiher-Text)

Very interesting film. The inspiration from old-school European horror is clear, though Marschall was more successful with it in his following work, Masks (and I’m looking forward to his next one). In any case, the theme looks very good and the unsettling execution is quite successful, too, though the excess of shallow bullshit in Tears of Kali: The Dark Side of New Age bothered me a little. The atmosphere and the gore are great. ()
