Englisch Taiwan demonstrated that it's not just Japan, Thailand, and South Korea trying their hand at horror, but that this small country can also produce something worthwhile. And it's not just the originality that's so strong, but also the fact that the horror essence is still preserved, and the film has moments that can send shivers down your spine. And it also has a fantastic cool moment, like shooting at a ghost. I liked this. ()

Englisch Many people complain about the lack of originality in horror, but I’m not all that sure whether true originality is something good for horror. I will use Silk as an argument: the film is certainly original – the classic format of ghost horror with some tweaks (Menger’s sponge, silk fibres, the rules of the origin and the persistence of the ghost) – but all those original elements reduce the effect of the traditional ones, the ones that are supposed to generate fear. Everything that is original in Silk bothered me, while I liked a lot more the traditional scary moments, like for instance, the “shootout” with the police on the road. I have mixed feelings about this film. ()
