Madge Arwell flieht vor dem Chaos des 2. Weltkriegs aus London in ein altes Herrenhaus nach Dorset. The feeblest of Moffat’s four Christmas specials, but still sufficiently fairytale-like, suspenseful and fun, making it miles better than the prototype to which it constantly makes fond references.

Lots of joy, lots of childlike naivety, thrilling mystery, and exactly according to my secret expectations, a small dose of tears. Steven Moffat's standalone specials simply grab your heart with such force that the poignant moments from Doctor Who have become a pleasant Christmas tradition.
