Ein Filmklassiker des Duos Marlene Dietrich - John Wayne. Ein etwas unausgewogen, aber ein sehr beliebtes Duo der Universal-Studios. Unterhaltsame amerikanische Kriegspropaganda voller Klischees, die aber so kunstvoll eingebaut sind, dass es nichts ausmacht. Marlene ist immer noch unwiderstehlich, immer noch aus Europa stammend und immer noch zwischen zwei Männern stehend. Und wenn sich jemand um Marlene streitet, dann auf jeden Fall ohne sie, was geschmackvoll ist. Das ist alles, was man braucht, um bei Zelluloid glücklich zu sein.

If it was just taken to that dramatic level, to a properly destructive finale, and not the opposite to this happy ending, it would be a great film. John Wayne delivers an excellent performance here in terms of a dramatic character who becomes evil, but he simply couldn't be a jerk the whole time. It's a shame about that twist, because otherwise it would be great.
