Eine gewisse Legende, die sich um diesen Film rankt, ist für mich nicht sehr transparent. Ich könnte noch Tyrone Power akzeptieren, hier und da ein paar europäisch angehauchte Nummern, aber alles andere ist einfach nur Limonade. Ich hätte mir Ethel Merman in einer markanteren Rolle gewünscht und Kostüme, die die Zeit der Geschichte und nicht nur die Zeit der Entstehung beschreiben.

I guess I was expecting this film to be something special, but I just didn't find it special at all. It's like I'm watching an uninteresting romance that goes more the way of drama, but there are some funny scenes and a musical number that definitely won't stick in my head. The movie just didn't do much for me.
