Monas Hochzeitstag wird der bewegendste Tag in ihrem Leben sein: sie lebt mit ihrer Familie auf dem von Israel besetzten Teil der Golanhöhen und heiratet auf “die andere Seite der Grenze” nach Syrien. Als Bräutigam hat die Familie ihr einen entfernten Verwandten, den syrischen TV-Star Tallel, ausgesucht. Sobald Mona jedoch einmal nach Syrien eingereist ist, wird sie nie wieder israelisches Territorium betreten können. Das heißt, sie muss sich heute von ihrer geliebten Familie verabschieden.
