Schlimmer kann’s eigentlich kaum noch kommen – erst verliert Joe Banks (Tom Hanks) seinen Job, und dann erfährt er von seinem Arzt, dass er bald sterben wird. Da erfährt er von dem Angebot eines Millionärs: Ein Kandidat darf soviel Geld ausgeben wie er will, doch nach 20 Tagen muss er als “Opfer” für einen Feuergott in einen aktiven Vulkan springen. Wow, look at that haircut on Hanks! Take a back seat, Da Vinci Code. The basic premise of this movie looked promising, but in the end it turned into something standard and ordinary. Luckily, the pleasant cast and the fact it doesn’t take itself too seriously keeps its head above water (I want one of those suitcases). The young Meg Ryan was enchanting. 3x.
