Das Erbe oder: Fuckoffjungsgutntag

Es ist seltsam, aber im Genre der "Kapitalismus-Privatisierungs-Komödie" ist es das Beste, was es gibt. Chytilová mag in den 1990er Jahren ihren Verstand und Geschmack verloren haben, aber Bolek Polívka als Bohuš hat den entsprechenden Schwung und die Überzeugung, ebenso wie seine Hinterwäldlertruppe (insbesondere der einzigartige Großvater Kroner). Zwar leugnet Irenka nicht, dass sie keine Schauspielerin, sondern eine Hure ist, aber auch darum geht es in Das Erbe oder: Fuckoffjungsgutntag. Es ist sicherlich kein guter Film, aber im Nachhinein betrachtet hat er seinen Charme und auch eine unbestreitbare Wahrhaftigkeit. Das ist es, was Chytilová einfach drauf hat. Es ist ein Zeugnis einer bestimmten Zeit mit allen Fehlern und Schwächen, aber es ist immer noch sehenswert... Und auch die Sprüche sind es wert, im Gedächtnis gespeichert zu werden, auch wenn einige der Dialoge wirklich... abgedroschen sind. (12.02.2004)

In its deliberate rudeness, amusing and even very funny in many places, but thanks to its necessary morality also often ineffective and embarrassing. Chytilová is poor in her preaching to the nation precisely because she never hits the mark. (27.09.2007)

Despite the obtuse criticisms of the time, Věra Chytilová did not create a Troška-esque farce. Nor did she lose her sound judgment or sell out to commerce. However, contemporary and, unfortunately, later viewers were unable to tell the difference between satire and communal comedy. Chytilová was the only one to not go for superficiality, but instead created a timeless and unflattering – and thus all the more chilling – freak show in which she exposed Czech society drunk on a feverish vision of wealth, freedom and power in all its nakedness. Unfortunately, an inherent drawback of every satire is that some people see it as a confirmation of their own values and preen in front of the mirror that has been set in front of them instead of being horrified by what they see. And particularly the image reflected in The Inheritance is utterly, terrifyingly monstrous, though it is also a meaningful statement on more than just its own time and the deterioration of its values. I don't know, I was never entertained or captivated. I just kind of "missed it". I don't need this movie to live, I even breathe better when I don't have to say the title... They just had a certain lack of appeal for each other, and it's certain we'll never get past it. I don't mind, and I'm sure the movie doesn't either. And just to clarify a bit how much I dislike the movie (in case anyone cares), if I had to choose between it and, say, Pokémon, I choose you, Pikachu, you cute electric rat from Japan.... The cult around this film completely passed me by from the beginning. I consider it one of Chytilová's weaker films, with a poorly written script, and the majority of enthusiastic admirers do not perceive it as a morality tale, but rather admire the protagonist's coarseness and "bravado" on a superficial level. I admire Bolka Polívka for completely different roles. This humor was more from the basement, and I actually find the character repulsive. Overall impression: 40%. (17.06.2006)

Einer der besten tschechischen Filme, die in der sog. Nachrevolutionszeit entstanden sind. Bei Das Erbe oder: Fuckoffjungsgutntag muss ich – so ähnlich wie bei Der Feuerwehrball – vom Anfang bis zum Ende lachen. Mit dem Lachen wehre ich mich gegen das Nachdenken darüber, wie aktuell dieser Film ist und wie viel harte Wahrheit in ihm steckt. Jeder von uns kennt nämlich so einen Bohuš… Und einige sind es manchmal selbst. (19.11.2009)

What can I add about this? Polívka doesn't even have to act much, because this is exactly how he would have turned out if he had never taken up acting, Donutil is unforgettable as always even in a supporting role, and Věra Chytilová conducts the film of her life with amazing fluency and, especially, with a punch. All the jokes, innuendos and even Bohouš's moral lessons, however crude and far-fetched, have, hand in hand with a heavily laden glass of plum brandy, incredible power and have rightly become a firm part of our culture. I doubt I’ll ever watch it again, but I can be sure that its legacy is always guaranteed to lift my spirits. (15.08.2012)

Den Kultklassiker Das Erbe oder: Fuckoffjungsgutntag habe ich schon lange vor mir hergeschoben, und da es sich um eine der meistzitierten tschechischen Komödien handelt, hat mich der Film nicht sonderlich überrascht. Das Drehbuch von Chytilová und Polívka ist voller unvergesslicher Perlen, keine Frage, aber auf der anderen Seite gibt es auch sinnlosere Stellen mit einem äußerst ungeschickten Touch, die vor allem im ersten Drittel des Films zu sehen sind. Das Erbe wäre sicher nicht das, was es ist, wenn es nicht Bolek Polívka gäbe, der den versoffenen Bohuš sehr überzeugend darstellen konnte - vielleicht musste er ihn gar nicht spielen und war einfach er selbst. Neben ihm gibt es in dem Film weitere unvergessliche Figuren - von seiner Mini-Tante über Bohuš' Kumpane bis hin zu seinen beiden "femme fatales" Irenka und Vlastička. Am Ende fand ich den Film unglaublich absurd - phantasievoll, ja - aber schon ein bisschen bizarr und aus dem Gesamtkonzept des Films herausfallend. Ich kann jede Wertung für The Inheritance durchaus nachvollziehen - einerseits mochte ich den Film als humorvollen Einblick in das Leben von Dorfdeppen, die mit den Verlockungen der materiellen Welt konfrontiert werden, andererseits hatte ich anfangs mehrmals das Bedürfnis, den Film allein wegen dieser übermäßig rüpelhaften Charaktere abzuschalten. Even though it may seem like a film mainly about humor and pranks at first glance, after years one realizes that it is a very good social critique, which is usually laughed at by those who are criticized because they probably don't even understand it. Bolek Polívka is truly incredible in his role, and Chytilová holds the directorial reins so firmly that it's unbelievable. Every scene has a sense of the overall impression. (30.06.2015)
