Der unscheinbare Dave Kovic wird für ein paar Stunden als Doppelgänger für den Präsidenten engagiert, während sich dieser für ein heißes Schäferstündchen zurückzieht. Ein sehr, sehr schöner Film. Ethisch schöne Figuren, ein perfektes Gleichgewicht von Romantik und Humor und natürlich famose Schauspieler*innen. Zusammen mit Ghostbusters - Die Geisterjäger der Höhepunkt der Filmografie von Ivan Reitman.

A textbook example of smart humour and mild political satire with an unprecedented constellation of properly used actors in an unrealistic but fully effective and smart story from the behind the scenes of high politics and corruption. The sleazy and sly Frank Langella against the traditionally perfect Kevin Kline, together with a carefully built romance and a strong climax result in an incredibly pleasant experience without any major weak spots (maybe only the part right before the climax grinds a little under the weight of the accumulated conflicts). The final farewell with the head of security Ving Rhames brought a little swell of tears. 85% and the fifth star is purely subjective.
