Blade: Trinity

Der erste Teil war der erste Film, der zweite Teil gehörte Guillermo del Toro. Der dritte Teil ist der dritte Film und gehört niemandem. David S. Goyer hat nur handwerklich und ohne einen persönlichen Regie-Touch ein routinemäßiges Drehbuch verfilmt, das oft abgedroschene Motive und Klischees nutzt. Die Videoclip-Actionsequenzen sind vielleicht ein bisschen künstlich, der hyperdynamische Soundtrack und vor allem die Sprüche von Ryan Reynolds haben den Film aber gerettet. Jessica Biel ist sexy, schade, dass sie die zwölfte Geige spielt. Im Großen und Ganzen ist dieser Film aber unterhaltsamer, als ich nach den fürchterlichen Reaktionen erwartet habe. (09.02.2005)

My grandmother would have an apt term for this film: bollocks. The third entry of Blade lacks the stuff that graced the previous two. The impressive atmosphere and solid story of the first one and del Toro's action explosiveness of the second one have been replaced by a dull script, not much action, an appalling casting blunder in the form of Dracula and, most importantly, the fact that Goyer is a really weak director (even taking into account that this is his debut). Ich war gespannt, ob die Drei die Eins an Dummheit übertreffen würden, und ich wurde nicht enttäuscht. Das Drehbuch ist wieder einmal das Ejakulat eines Geistes, der vielleicht zu viele C-bewertete Actionfilme und die schlechtesten Comics verschlungen hat. Der ständige Wunsch, die Welt davon zu überzeugen, dass Blade mehr ist als ein dummer Shooter und dass er über Vampirfilme hinausgeht, ist magisch und allgegenwärtig. Denn Dracula, der wie ein luxuriöser Gigolo aussieht, Stahlplatten an seinem Hemd trägt und bei seiner Flucht wie ein Straßenjunge aussieht, der ein Kilo Birnen aus einer Gärtnerei gestohlen hat, kann unmöglich Erfolg haben. Blade: Trinity bleibt einfach ein lächerliches Gefasel über einen Haufen dürrer Typen mit unklarer sexueller Orientierung, die sich Vampire nennen, und einen statuenhaften schwarzen Mann, der 113 Minuten lang keine einzige Emotion zeigt. Es ist einfach ein Kaliber. Die visuelle Komponente ist jedoch im Vergleich zum ersten Teil auf einem sehr anständigen Niveau, es ist alles clipoid und post-matrixoid, einfach ansehnlich. Der Versuch, die obligatorische coole Luft zu erzeugen, ist teils anständig, teils absolut lächerlich. Der einzige Grund, warum ich dem Film keine booo! gebe, sind einige der Actionszenen. Schließlich ist es ein Actionfilm. Selbst wenn Blade in die höhere Liga aufsteigen wollte. Aber dafür sind seine Shorts zu dünn. (02.08.2006)

Evaluating Trinity for me means going back 20 years in memories and recalling - with a certain embarrassment - that I really liked the first film in the series on the big screen during its premiere. It was atmospheric, dynamic, and impactful. Additionally, I had nothing to compare it with, as I was never a fan of the genre. When I saw the action-packed sequel 15 years later, I was already suffering through del Toro's professionalism, and intentionally avoided the third one. Naturally, Trinity's predecessors could not boast of any script quality, but they managed to offer an original idea in the first case and decent craftsmanship in the second, which at least somewhat masked the silly essence of the subject matter. In the third film, practically everything fails - the characters, the story, and the logical construction of the fictional world. The appearance and behavior of Dracula must cause fits of despair even in an enthusiastic genre fan. The acting of the charming Jessica Biel, diplomatically speaking, is dull. Goyer is unable to bring any new ideas into the film and, at best, only diligently borrows from his predecessors what works to a minimum extent. Although it's not an Ed Wood film and there are certainly objectively worse films in cinema, for me, it made me miserable, although I acknowledge that a genre fan can easily add two stars. If Goyer managed to amuse me a few times, it was only with his ineptitude and clumsiness in some of the performances. Overall impression: 10%. (18.12.2018)

Overall, Blade Trinity is decently shot and edited action entertainment that won't offend, but it doesn't show anything new. On one hand, it's a pity because David S. Goyer could have squeezed a lot more from it, but considering the flaws of threequels, at least it turned out like this. (30.01.2005)

Das ist ein Stück von seinem Panzer. Daraus konnten wir mit dem Computer ableiten, wie der Schuft wahrscheinlich ausgesehen hat. Ja, genau das sagt eine Figur aus dem Film Blade: Trinity mit todernster Miene. Und so dumm ist der ganze Film. Ich habe angenommen, dass er schlechter als del Toros sensationeller, verspielter und phantasievoller zweiter Teil sein wird. Ich hätte aber nicht gedacht, dass er auch schlechter als der durchschnittliche erste Teil sein wird. Und es ist doch der Fall. Blade ist kein Blade mehr, vieles wird von Ryan Reynolds gerettet (der einzige Schauspieler, dem es gelungen ist, witzig und gleichzeitig sympathisch zu sein) und einen peinlicheren Schuft als diesen doofen aufgepumpten Dracula alias Drake kann ich mir nicht vorstellen. Alles im allem hat mir eigentlich nur die Szene mit den Hunden gefallen. (10.03.2016)

The lines suck, Blade was much better off with Whistler or Scud than his current partners (plus Biel is hyper), once someone opens their mouth it's best to turn off the sound and emotions really aren't needed in this franchise. It's just that Blade: Trinity has such a delectably infantile B-movie vibe, full of blood, fights, perfect monsters (the vampire dogs are a roar) and a minimum of dead spots, that I was quite entertained. Not a clean four by any means, but a thumbs up, despite the "critics" and the drooling sycophants. EDIT: So make that three, I'm not that much of an idiot (23.11.2010)
