Berend Iván, a mine-owning engineer in Bondavár, falls in love with the beautiful miner girl, Evila. The girl is afraid that her drunkard fiancé, Szaffrán Péter will take revenge on Berend, so she rejects him. A Viennese banker, Kaulmann, man of the extra profit, buys the whole territory on the Exchange. He cheats and steals, bribes everybody who stands in his way and even entices Evila to Vienna. But then he goes bankrupt in his doubtful doings. In revenge, Szaffrán blows up Kaulmann's Bondavár mine with himself inside. Berend, known world-wide for his scientific results, buys up the mine's now worthless shares and Evila can return, too. (Verleiher-Text)
