Young and easily frightened Heather (Lesleh Donaldson) is called to stay with her grandmother in the hopes of helping her turn an old funeral home into a bed-and-breakfast. But strange happenings and unexplained murders around the home quickly make this vacation spot a "dead-and-breakfast". Diese vergessene Mischung aus Grandma's House und Psycho hat mich angenehm überrascht. Mit seinem knappen Budget schafft es überraschenderweise, das Maximum herauszuholen. Es brauchte nur ein paar gute Schauspieler zu finden (vor allem Oma war super), ein altes großes Haus mit einem riesigen dunklen Keller, der das Potenzial hat, Angst zu verbreiten. Und genau das sorgt für einige interessante Momente, es gibt genug Dunkelheit (in einigen Szenen vielleicht zu viel) und die Musik hat ein bisschen den Stil von Freitag, der 13. Beide Filme sind übrigens aus demselben Jahr, was für ein Zufall, oder? Es gibt keine blutigen Morde, es geht vor allem um die Atmosphäre. Aber Zuschauer, die diesen Horrortyp suchen, werden sicher vor Freude quietschen.

Funeral Home has a pretty decent idea, but the execution isn't all that great. It stars a kind old lady who wants to run a boarding house, but as far as the actual killing goes, it's just not that great. It doesn't always have the right atmosphere, although there are some hints that it could be really good. This film does have something to it, something that makes the film worth watching.
