(Verleiher-Text)

Englisch The blending of animation with live action is absolutely incredibly well done for 1988, the opening shot is insane, the allusion to 1950s noir is thorough, and the little details like references to ethnic segregation at the time through the intertwined world of cartoon and real characters in this type of film are pleasantly surprising. In fact, the whole vision is handled perfectly. But then it's all for naught when the arrival of the titular rabbit on the scene gives you a really bad headache. ()

Englisch A great premise with an even better execution. I'm sure it wouldn't be a big deal nowadays, but back then such a high quality combination of live-action and animated film must have caused a lot of hype, and not just among small kids. Roger Rabbit and the other cartoon characters, too, are more than fine, but not as fine as Zemeckis's enjoyable direction, which gives room for a great variety of characters and tons of jokes, or Bob Hoskins and Christopher Lloyd in particular, who as the ruthless judge is simply not to be missed. Almost 25 years have passed, but this magical film remains unbeaten in its genre, and just for that, it clearly deserves a full rating. ()

Englisch I loved this movie so much as a kid and found myself absolutely loving it even years later. Now it's not just about the characters, even though they are wonderful, but mainly because of how Zemeckis, like no one before him and no one after him, managed to seamlessly combine actors and animation - technically flawless - but he also gave it a story that is entertaining, thrilling, and brilliantly offbeat. Englisch Flawless combination of cartoon and real-life actors on such a high technical level that it can teach a lesson to many of its younger siblings. As proof, it should be enough that, unlike the usual movies based on effect, Roger hasn’t aged a bit in technical terms, even twenty years on. Add to that the nicely “noir" detective story, likeable protagonists and the marvelously concocted world with its own rules that really work. The opening scene and how it plays out wring out the potential of this idea to the maximum. And the never-ending stream of cameos is just wonderful. And the main thing is that this is just great fun! Englisch Let's face it, the marketing didn't hold back with slogans like "first time on the screen," "original intertwining of animation and live-action film," etc., while here in the Czech Republic, we know that practically all the ideas and approaches that Robert Zemeckis came up with had already appeared in Czech cinema, in some cases even decades before Who Framed Roger Rabbit. On the other hand, none of those films featured Bob Hoskins in the lead role, didn't have such audience-friendly, gag-packed scripts, and overall didn't have that pleasant Hollywood pop culture packaging. Who Framed Roger Rabbit is a pleasant comedy, but from my perspective, it doesn't have a strong enough script to knock me off my feet. Maybe it's also because I'm not particularly drawn to the films it draws inspiration from and partially parodies. Overall impression: 65%. ()
