A tribute to a difficult profession, which it's a shame doesn't have its own category at the Oscars. Fall Guy is certainly not popcorn for everyone, which is why it will have a difficult time with high box office and general acceptance. For the average viewer, it's far too loaded with references, innuendo and props that not everyone will register. But for film buffs, it's great fanservice. Ryan Gosling confirms that he's great at the role of likable muscular cool good guys, and it suits him much more than the roles of tough agents in crap like The Gray Man. The only thing I found downright annoying is the weird "just to make something happen" style storyline, which pretty much spoils the overall look and dynamic of the film. The heart, on the other hand, pulses as hard as it can and the central couple is cute.

Undisguisedly Hitchcockian. The script is very stupid, but what Brian De Palma spoils as a screenwriter, he makes up for mightily as a director. Plus, he's not afraid to use the skills of Ralf D. Bode and Pino Donaggio. More than one scene could have gone straight into the textbooks as an example of "how to slowly build a scene that evokes intense subliminal tension, shot by shot, without words" or "how to walk around a gallery for a few minutes and not breathe".

This hammy romp about a deaf and dumb killer who has to overthrow a totalitarian regime spares no expense with absurd scenes, black humour and incredible action that combines the best of The Raid with childish imagination and naivety. The self-parody sequences where the protagonist tells the story in a video game voice, doesn't understand a mumbling comrade or sees things that can't exist in the real world get a heavy kick in the balls at the end. The film delivers not one but two switcheroos and becomes a heavy existential drama that turns the previous course on its head. An original fun flick with a great Bill Skarsgård and a godlike Sharlto Copley that bends the rules of the genre, clumsily, but enough to push them in the right direction. The best weapon is the grater, and macaroons are the food of the gods. P.S: Yayan Ruhian reprises the bloody finale from The Raid 2.

The panoramas of a big city, like Blade Runner from Wish, and the same comparison can be used when looking at the robots, which are very reminiscent of those from Avatar, but in the end everyone will still see through the fact that this is nothing but a quick consumer product from Netflix product, which is qualitatively most similar to The Creator. That one was admittedly also a B-movie, only it was deadly serious and had darker-toned camerawork, with a specifically Asian setting, while Atlas is a playful scifi B-movie that has no major ambitions and goes straight to a brand new planet in the Andromeda galaxy. One can highlight the pace, the brisk action, the relatively good value-for-money visuals. Everything moves quickly and without thinking too much, and in this case it's rather a plus. Jennifer Lopez acting goes on economy mode, but perhaps no one expected much else. We all know that her assets lie elsewhere than in her acting; a pretty bold move in itself casting-wise, but it's easily watchable.

Ashley Graham ist eine Moderatorin von Paaren, die einzelne Teile eines echten Hauses im Barbie-Stil renovieren und dabei verschiedene Jahrzehnte von den 60ern bis zu den 90ern nachbilden. Dann geht es um Außensitzbereiche im Retro-Stil oder im modernen Stil. Und zum Schluss geht es um das Ankleide- und Arbeitszimmer. Kreative repräsentieren Fans und beliebte Dolltuber, darunter zum Beispiel Azusa Barbie. Zu den besonderen Gästen gehören natürlich Margot Robbie und andere Schauspieler aus dem Film Barbie.

This French historical drama is worth a watch. The men settle their honour by duelling each other with swords or pistols, and the acting is dominated by fencing master Roschdy Zem, who plays a very likeable character. It's got attractive visuals, strong themes like honour, pride and feminism, interesting dueling rules and nicely filmed and intense duels (the fencing is really cool!), and the emotions at the end may work on some people. A decent film on an unconventional subject where thousands of Frenchmen died in tough duels.. 7/10.

Als Nächstes treffen wir Mr. Freeze, einen weiteren klassischen Bösewicht, der sich seit 1959 in Gotham herumtreibt. Siehe die Serien Batman und Gotham, den klassischen Zeichentrickfilm Batman & Robin und Batman & Mr. Freeze: Eiszeit oder den Spielfilm Batman & Robin.

Diese Serie hat keine Angst und als ob sie wüssten, dass nur noch wenige Folgen bevorstehen, haben sie für jede Episode etwas Besonderes vorbereitet. Dieses Mal die nächste Generation von Killer Croc. Die ursprüngliche Comicfigur stammt aus dem Jahr 1983, im Spielfilm finden wir ihn in Suicide Squad.

Die Koproduktionsserie brachte ausgewählte Länder des ehemaligen Habsburgerreichs zusammen, um die heutige Generation an die Persönlichkeit Maria Theresias (1717-1780) zu erinnern. Leider stützte sich das attraktive Projekt auf eine populär konzipierte, von Mirka Zlatníková und Radek Bajgar verfasste Biografie, was zu einer romantischen Idylle führte, die vor allem die Popularität von Vojtěch Kotek in den Herzen seiner alternden weiblichen Fans festigte. Nichtsdestotrotz sollte man dem Projekt das Trio der Schauspielerinnen in der Hauptrolle und die sanfte Anregung der müden Zuschauer des öffentlich-rechtlichen Fernsehens, in eine etwas andere Richtung zu denken, zugutehalten.

The story from an unreliable narrator, a double agent, full of deceit and uncertainty. Hoa Xuande is the discovery of the year, an utterly convincing performance from a chameleon you root for despite his moral failings. He's overshadowed only by the multi-role Robert Downey Jr. and he's a little different every time, though as the oddball CIA agent, he's clearly the best. Cynical humour, apt similes and the wrongs of life in both a democratic and communist country. The absolutely superb immersive opening is replaced by slightly erratic passages, but the whole is still a powerful experience thanks to Park Chan-wook's precise direction. P.S: The best episode, though, is the one of the war film where the Vietnamese refugees have to say communist lines like the Viet Cong.

Die erste Folge mit der Serien-Figur Julia Pennyworth. Die Besetzung mit Christina Wolfe war ein klassisches Whitewashing-Drama, da sie in den Comics die schwarze Tochter von Batmans Butler Alfred und Mademoiselle Marie ist (aber erst seit 2014). Ursprünglich waren alle weiß und Julia begann als Julia Remarque, deren Charakter hauptsächlich von ihrer Mutter geprägt war, die eine Heldin der Résistance intérieure française während des Zweiten Weltkriegs war.

Die erste Episode mit der geheimnisvollen Safiyah Sohail, die nur den Lesern von Batwoman Vol. 2 aus der Ära von DC Rebirth bekannt ist. In den Comics ist sie die ehemalige Geliebte der ursprünglichen Batwoman, in der Serie wird sie als Nemesis von Alice neu interpretiert.

Diejenigen, die auf die Beerdigung von Kate Kane gewartet haben, haben sie endlich bekommen. Alle Nebenfiguren bekamen reichlich Raum zum Trauern und am Ende stellte sich heraus, dass selbst die unwahrscheinlichste Wendung sehr gut ausgearbeitet wurde. Als zweiter Handlungsbogen der Serie intensiviert sich hier die Geschichte mit Black Mask, einem klassischen Bösewicht aus der Batman-Welt der 80er Jahre, der in Filmen den größten Raum in dem Spielfilm Birds Of Prey: The Emancipation Of Harley Quinn und dem Animationsfilm Catwoman: Hunted bekam. Das Bindeglied zwischen ihm und Safiyah Sohail ist Enigma Evelyn Rhyme, eine interessante Version einer anderen klassischen Figur aus den DC Comics. Ursprünglich war sie nach 2006 die Tochter von Riddler, aber die Serienversion bietet wieder eine andere Geschichte an. Hier ist sie eine Schlüsselfigur bei der Entstehung der psychopathischen Alice.

A film that offers some impressive moments, but as a whole it mostly skims the surface. It deals with a few key themes, but it is mostly too thesis-like and one-dimensional. A raging America where we get no introduction and a miserable, rushed conclusion. Jesse Plemons steals for himself what is undoubtedly the film's best scene, and the final wartime inferno, while beautifully fluid and robust in sound, lacks technical skill and sophistication. It's not bad, Alex Garland is a capable and distinctive director, but Civil War is perhaps too ambitious a theme that deserved more than a journalistic road-movie with a wartime finale.

It’s too colourful, too CGI-laden, and Jennifer Lopez runs around with her big ass at the beginning and admits in one of the dialogues that she has wrinkles and covers her grey hair because nobody gets younger, and for that she gets my nod because her Botox colleagues in the industry probably see it differently. You can easily watch it while doing the ironing; I played GWENT while watching it, so the film is kind of half an ear and one eye. Towards the end Jennifer makes it into a kind of existential drama, where big tears are shed on camera and all that's missing is a big kiss on the broken windshield .... but whatever, I still like you Jennifer, you've been making a lot of shit for the last quarter century, but you're a hardworking girl and I can appreciate that.

Der 61. abendfüllende Disney-Film ist eine moderne Mischung aus klassischen Abenteuergeschichten aus dem Inneren der Erde. Die Dynamik der Familienbeziehungen erinnert an Indiana Jones und das Rad des Schicksals, aber man kann praktisch alles von Verne-Filmen über Narnia bis hin zu Pellucidar erwähnen. Im Kontext der Disney-Filme knüpft das Thema an Atlantis - Das Geheimnis der verlorenen Stadt an, aber das Ergebnis ist leider ein gleicher Misserfolg wie ein weiterer Klassiker Der Schatzplanet. Die Werbung für Strange World hat den Film im Voraus praktisch unter den Tisch gekehrt und nur sehr wenige Menschen haben überhaupt bemerkt, dass Disney einen weiteren abendfüllenden Film ins Kino bringt. Es war kein Thema, was ziemlich schade ist, weil Disney nach längerer Zeit einen klassischen Familienfilm für alle Altersgruppen angeboten hat. Sympathische Figuren, eine wunderschöne Umgebung und eine angenehme Botschaft.

Ein außergewöhnlich feiner, leiser, langsamer Film mit einer reinen, melancholischen Seele. Er beginnt als Porträt des überfüllten, verregneten Mumbais mit einem Einblick in das Leben zweier Freundinnen in der Stadt und später verlagert er sich an einen ruhigeren Ort. Das Spielfilm-Debüt der erfahrenen Dokumentarfilmerin erinnert daran, mit welchem Interesse und welcher Aufmerksamkeit qualitativ hochwertige indische Dramen von den Gefühlen der Figuren erzählen können. Die sozial unfreundliche Umgebung und das schwierige Leben darin tragen zur Intensivierung ihrer Wirkung bei. Hier glücklich zu sein bedeutet, in einer Illusion zu leben. [Cannes FF]

Because I’m not popular, I decided to rewatch WataMote — the story of a high school girl obsessed with popularity. Once again, I found myself rolling with laughter and cringing at the same time. Tomoko's inner world and her biting remarks about ordinary people are so relatable, it's almost embarrassing. This anime is incredibly original. Tomoko is an amazing character, wonderfully voiced, just like her brother. The series is full of interesting storylines and creative visuals, so there’s never a dull moment, even though it’s quite episodic and focuses on the same themes. When I first watched WataMote in 2013, it really resonated with me, and I loved it. I’m happy to say that even after more than ten years, it still holds up (and I’m still not popular). 9/10

George Miller wollte sich nicht wiederholen, er hat dieses Mal einen anderen Weg gewählt und beschloss, sich dem zu widmen, wofür das letzte Mal keine Zeit war. So lernen wir die Charaktere und die Welt besser kennen. Das bedeutet jedoch nicht, dass es keine Action gibt. Es gibt Action und was für eine! Allein der erste Akt steckt die meisten Actionfilme der letzten Zeit in die Tasche und das ist erst der Anfang. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga ist einfach ein herausragender Film mit der großartigen Anya Taylor-Joy, die jedoch erst irgendwann in der Mitte auftaucht, und mit dem perfekten Bösewicht, gespielt von Chris Hemsworth. Ich liebe es, wenn Schauspieler Masken benutzen, die ihnen helfen, jemand ganz anderes zu werden, und genau das ist Hemsworth hundertprozentig gelungen. Er ist unberechenbar, verrückt (wie sonst), aber gleichzeitig unterhaltsam und auf seine eigene Art und Weise auch lächerlich, wenn er auf seiner postapokalyptischen Triga durch die Wüste rast. Die Dreharbeiten hat er offensichtlich genossen und ich habe das Ergebnis genossen.
