Englisch A wonderfully sharp comedy, much better than its modern remake, mainly because Alastair Sim is (unlike Rupert Everett) great in the female role, and because the girls' school is populated not just by precocious, sexy students in short skirts, but mainly by small, shaggy-haired girls with bows and glasses, whose appearance contrasts much better with their behaviour ("Oh dear. I told Bessie to be careful with that nitro-glycerine!"). It's just a pity that the story gets a bit lost in the barrage of all those jokes, and although I was still having fun, I didn't really care how it would end. ()
