Die Krankenschwester Maggie (Kim Basinger) hat die Fürsorge für ihre Nichte Cody übernommen, da ihre Schwester Jenna mit Drogenproblemen zu kämpfen hat und nicht selbst für sie sorgen kann. Doch plötzlich verschwindet Cody spurlos. Zur gleichen Zeit finden in der Stadt rituelle Morde an Kindern statt, die am gleichen Tag wie Cody geboren wurden. Gemeinsam mit FBI-Agent John Travis (Jimmy Smits) versucht Maggie ihre kleine Nichte zu retten. (ZDF)

From a genre perspective, the film practically doesn't work as a horror at all. It could be accepted as a weaker thriller with fairly ambitious acting performances. Unfortunately, it is dragged down by a terrifyingly unprofessional screenplay and impotent direction. If the studio was counting on Kim Basinger, it was a mistake because - at least judging by this film - she has had her best days. Since effort alone is not enough, the overall rating is at a mere 25%.
