Sheriff "Dirty Lyle" ist skrupellos und gerissen. Er bringt den Trucker "Spider Mike" hinter Gitter, obwohl der nichts verbrochen hat. A road movie with an excellent cast that, despite its naive and easygoing story, takes itself too seriously and doesn’t deliver any pleasant surprises in the second half (with the exception perhaps of the ending). Peckinpah, naturally, leaves his typical filthy blokeish touch, but his talent is quite wasted in an adventure B-movie like this. The namesake theme song is understandably great. 65%
