Stella (Haley Lu Richardson) ist eine 17-Jährige, wie sie im Buche steht: Ihr Smartphone gibt sie nicht aus der Hand und am liebsten chattet sie mit ihren Freunden. Nur Platz zum Träumen bleibt ihr nicht, denn anders als normale Teenager, verbringt sie die meiste Zeit unter strenger Beobachtung im Krankenhaus. Stella leidet an der unheilbaren Erbkrankheit Mukoviszidose und ihre wichtigste Regel lautet: Komm keinem Mitpatienten näher als 4 Schritte, denn er könnte dich mit seinen Bakterien schwächen und schlimmstenfalls töten. Als sie aber dem charmanten Will (Cole Sprouse) begegnet, der immer wieder gegen seine Behandlung rebelliert, knistert es so sehr zwischen ihnen, dass es Stella zunehmend schwerer fällt, den vorgeschriebenen Sicherheitsabstand einzuhalten. Mit ihr an seiner Seite lässt sich Will scheinbar wieder aufs Leben ein, auch wenn die unsichtbare Wand zwischen ihnen ihrer Versuchung kaum standhält. Wie kann Stella ihre Liebe noch retten, wenn schon die kleinste Berührung beide in Lebensgefahr bringen würde? (Universal Pictures Germany)

Soundtrack Review: We know Brian Tyler’s work mostly because of his iconic scores for blockbusters such is the series of The Avengers films, Fast & Furious series and other action epic films. It was very surprising to see his credits in a teenage drama film, and even more interesting to listen to how his unexpected collaboration with a quite unknown Breton Vivian turned out. Together, Brian and Breton managed to create a beautiful touching soundtrack full of incredible melodies performed by diverse instruments. From old school sounds and retro pads, to modern guitar supplemented by a nice clean soft piano. The soundtrack in this film just does what it is supposed to. It greatly emphasizes the emotions which we can feel through the film. It’s a sad story with some beautiful moments and a touch of love.

I was quite bothered by the crude attempt to wring as many tears and emotions out of the audience as possible, but in the end I couldn't help being moved. The casting of the central duo with unglamorous acting faces was a very good choice: the chemistry between the likeable Haley Lu Richardson and the charming Cole Sprouse simply worked well. Plus, I really believed that they were in love. And the romantic-toned soundtrack was also a success. (70%)
