A French company builds a road in eastern Chad’s isolated Sahel Desert in northern Africa. This is a remote documentary set around the construction project and the events it triggers in nearby communities. Some inhabitants take advantage of the situation and look for jobs, while others try to go on with their lives, ignoring the changes and the consequences that this new project will bring once it is finished.The camera is set on both visions: that of the workers during the construction and that of the locals in their natural environment. And the same goes for the French base, with a stocked food section and modern accommodations, where apparently nothing happens. The documentary proposes a reflection around the concept of “progress” demonstrating that is doesn’t have the same meaning for everyone. (El Riviera Maya Film Festival)
