Englisch Horror dad Ricci made me have an early Christmas and I thank him from the bottom of my heart! D-Day and the Italian Renaissance of dark gothic horror! Giulio De Santi definitely made a breakthrough with his Hotel Inferno trilogy and it is without a doubt the best thing ever created in underground filmmaking (currently rated 9.3 on IMDB!!!!). The second part proudly stands out in red on FilmBooster, something that has never been achieved in amateur filmmaking before. After the second part, you can clearly see a 4-year progress in many aspects and I must fully appreciate this work because you rarely see so much horror enthusiasm from fans. The story continues from the second part, where the protagonist from the underworld gets to an attractive medieval castle (The Castle of Screams!) that is surrounded by snow. His task is to steal the ice element from the castle guardian (a cyclops!), and once again it is an hour-long carnage that made my horror heart jump in joy. The third part reminded me more of a medieval RPG game that takes the best elements from “Doom” and this time, even from “God of War”! The protagonist carries the torso of a dead witch on his back, which serves as a narrator and advisor, and this time there is also looting, crafting, upgrading, alchemy, and it is presented amazingly. The collecting and finding different weapons and items (a demon head used as a lantern, acid made from the blood of Christ, a shotgun with demon eyes instead of bullets, rotten gloves with increased life regeneration, and much more!) is wonderfully filmed, the camera beautifully captures all the details (the production design is awesome), and the music is again dark and appropriately medieval! The castle setting and underground corridors also have their atmospheric charm and the blood on the snow looks literally delicious. There are deformed farmers, miners, demonic chickens (they are perfect), and other well-designed demons as antagonists, and the handwork of the make-up effects is tangible. This time, I must also praise the plot itself, they put effort into it. It's not something incredibly innovative, full of twists, etc., but it is certainly presented in a unique style and you are intrigued about how it will unfold. The cheesy lines from the first and second parts have been replaced by sarcastic lines and the dialogues are definitely more entertaining than ever before (surprisingly, even the voice of the main character has improved), and, of course, all of this is solved on the go while eliminating enemies, so entertainment is guaranteed. I am thrilled once again, there is a visible piece of huge dedicated work, something that modern horror films significantly lack, and I applaud it. I haven't had an experience like this in a long time. Fans of gore, RPG games, and medieval horror will be in ecstasy, just like me. And in 4 years, there will be a fourth part!! Of course, those who expect a slow-burn drama with captivating performances and Oscar-worthy material should look elsewhere, at least two hells away. This is purely fan service that only true fans will appreciate. 10/10. () (weniger) (mehr)
