Curious George is an international icon. Generations of children around the world have grown up with the stories of his adventures and hijinks. Curious George's co-creators, Hans and Margret Rey, have their own stories. Born in Germany to Jewish families in the early 1900s, Hans was a dreamer, always sketching whatever came to his mind. Margret was an entrepreneurial rebel, determined to make her mark on the world. They married in Brazil and honeymooned in Paris. Four years later, when the Nazis encroached on the edges of Paris, they fled on bicycles with a manuscript featuring a small monkey and his friend, the Man in the Yellow Hat.
