Bird Fitcher (Kathryn Prescott) arbeitet neben der Highschool in einem Antiquitätenladen. Als sie von einem Kollegen eine alte Sofortbildkamera geschenkt bekommt, ist die Freude groß, denn es handelt sich um ein echtes Sammlerstück. Doch schnell muss Bird erkennen, dass ihre Schnappschüsse tödliche Folgen haben, denn wer von ihr abgelichtet wird, findet schon bald ein grauenvolles Ende. The Canadian-Norwegian-American film Polaroid is not an original spectacle. There are at least two or three Japanese horror films that come to mind from which this film takes more than a little inspiration. To some extent, it copies them. But it manages to do so with relative honor because even if you don't enjoy Polaroid, after watching it you won't feel that it was a waste of time; in fact, you'll think that it was quite nice to watch a horror film that isn't a total mess for once.
