D.C. (Johnny Knoxville) ist der abgedrehte Besitzer von Action Point, einem heruntergekommen und außer Kontrolle geratem Freizeitpark, der dadurch glänzt, dass Sicherheitsstandards minimiert und Spaßfaktoren maximiert werden. Ausgerechnet als D.C.s Tochter Boogie (Eleanor Worthington-Cox) in den Sommerferien zu ihrem Vater zu Besuch kommt, eröffnet direkt nebenan ein Mega-Freizeitpark, der die Zukunft von Action Point gefährdet. After watching the trailers, I was pretty sure that Johnny Knoxville can’t go wrong with this one. This theme is a familiar one for him, it’s just a shame he looks a bit old now. As I was watching, I realized I haven’t really seen him in a movie for quite some time. But why? He’s great at comedy and he’s always managed to do his action scenes well. He might be pushing fifty in this movie, but he still isn’t afraid to do his own stunts, which is a good thing. Action Point is undermined by its premise, though. It’s as plain as a pikestaff, but there are some good surprising moments when it’s worth it to watch everything that’s happening on screen. Sometimes, there’s more fun happening behind the actors in the background than in the foreground, which might be the biggest downside of the movie. It’s a good one, but it could have been so much better.
