Amerika in naher Zukunft: Religiöse Fundamentalisten sind an die Macht gelangt. In ihrem autoritären System haben Frauen keine Rechte mehr – sie dürfen weder einen Beruf ausüben noch Eigentum besitzen. Aufgrund von Umweltverschmutzung ist ein Großteil der Bevölkerung unfruchtbar. Die wenigen Frauen, die noch gebären können, dienen den Machthabern als Mägde. Sie leben bei den Kommandanten und müssen – nach einer erfolgreichen „Zeremonie“ – deren Kinder austragen. Kluge Gewalten (2018) (S02E09)
I was stunned by how the show suddenly remembered what made the first season so good. After episodes of dullness, the creators shifted away from melodrama and brought international politics into the mix. This episode had a solid atmosphere and pacing, making it engaging to watch.

Die letzte Zeremonie (2018) (S02E10)
Well, here we go again with a steep decline. Logic took another vacation, allowing all sorts of improbable events. Fred finds out the baby isn’t his and does... nothing. Offred's reunion with her daughter was a major misstep, loaded with so much emotion that it seemed designed to make sensitive viewers cry their eyes out. The plot takes a backseat to heartstring-tugging, presumably to boost viewership.

Holly (2018) (S02E11)
The creators just keep on trying to tug at our heartstrings. The highlight was the genius moment when a childbirth scene was interrupted by a flashback to another childbirth. Brilliant! That deserves some kind of award.

Postpartum (2018) (S02E12)
Seriously, what was the point of this episode? The first half focused on Serena Waterford's tough decision, only for the second half to completely undermine it, making me feel like I just wasted my time. I’m starting to think the creators are messing with us.

Good news for me, the creators, and the fans of the show — this is officially the last episode I'll watch, rate, or review. I’m done wasting my time with this nonsense. A handmaid slaps a commander with zero consequences! The plot has been devoid of logic for a while, but the finale took it to a new level. Bravo!
