Tóth János, a probationary policeman, knows only one individual, Nagy Miklós, in the capital. Nagy is a police sergeant-in-chief from Angyalföld. Nagy and the young man are homefolks, therefore Nagy decides to support him. What's more, even Lidi, Nagy's daughter seems to be liking the young lad. Tóth asks to be put on duty with his future father-in-law. Nagy meets Gizi, an attractive girl who plays the accordion and sings in a night-club. The girl puts a spell on him. At first, the singer makes approaches to the policeman only because she is told to do so by Karcsi, her lover, a man who had committed murder and robbery on the eve of his release from prison, but she later genuinely falls in love with him. She then warns János of Karcsi's plan to murder a policeman. Finally, Karcsi's men are caught and Nagy Miklós's life is saved. Gizi, however, is killed by Karcsi for having betrayed him.
