It is 1620, Buda is occupied by the Turks. The Hungarian students organize a movement of resistance to liberate the capital, while searching for King Matthias's treasure. Gábor clerk, accompanied by Mujkó, a Gypsy, sneaks into Gül Baba's garden of roses. It is then that he falls in love with Leila, Gül Baba's daughter, who is just taking a bath there. At first, the Turkish lady thinks Gábor is a spy, then, already in love with him, decides to give him assistance. Leila is picked to become pasha Ali's 33rd wife. Gábor is caught by the guards and is to be executed soon, along with his companions. Miraculously, however, there is a tempest during the night, helping the captives escape. Gábor clerk and Leila are on their way to the castle of Eger. (Verleiher-Text)
