Svět pod hlavou

Despite my gross dissatisfaction with episodes five and nine, my overall review is positive. Admittedly, the lion's share of the success is due to Ivan Trojan as Lieutenant Plachý and his stream of deadpan one-liners. The series was very well cast, and as long as the creators did not forget to include humor, it worked really well. Its weakness was the oftentimes lackluster Václav Neužil and his recurring hallucinations. What I loved were the new investigative methods of the National Security Corps and their constant oscillation between trying to investigate and trying not to upset anyone. All in all, I had fun, and it’s certainly not the last time I’m watching this series. (30.04.2017)

At first, I wasn't enthusiastic at all, I even had concerns that I would get bored. But then Martin Plachý appeared on the scene, who sometimes has such a mood that he doesn't even decline. The secrets of the spy were revealed to me, which definitely have to be experienced, and I caught myself having a great time, so yeah. (27.04.2017)

The second episode tried too hard to be a thriller and I didn't believe it much. I think this series should rely more on humor because when the character Ivan Trojan is allowed to make me laugh, the second part gets the right touch. When the protagonist's coma starts to be resolved, the whole story unnecessarily slows down and lurking boredom starts to peek out from around the corner. (27.04.2017)

The third episode brought, among other things, an excellent performance by Marek Taclík, his Luboš Nováček really got to me, it was a magnificent achievement. The series returned to humor after a slightly weaker previous episode, and it immediately worked much better. Additionally, the excursion to the Festival of Political Songs was successful, so I enjoyed reminiscing about that horror, the execution of some of the hits could really be used as a weapon. The fourth episode felt to me like the best so far in the whole series. I enjoyed the murder investigation, the creators didn't forget to include humor this time, and Martin Plachý's lines are really well-crafted. I also have to praise Jan Budař, whom I forgot about in previous episodes, but his Klement Kratěna, who constantly fights against reactionary elements and Western imperialism, is excellent. As a bonus, Antonín Blaník appears here as comrade Šejba, Marek Daniel simply knows how to play those functionaries. I had a fantastic time. (28.04.2017)
