Elekes György, the archaeologist professor having just returned from America falls in love with Udvardy Erzsike, the daughter of the neighbouring landlord. He learns from his man servant that Hungarian girls can only be pleased by military men, not by civilians. As he is qualified unfit at drafting, he joins the army using a call addressed to someone else. Next morning the mistake turns out and György is thrown out of the barracks despite all his efforts, he even offers a pension fee for his stay. Then he presents himself for special drafting, where he hides his spectacles and denies his short-sightedness, thus his wish is fulfilled. Next time he stands in front of the girl in uniform and she gives her hand happily to him. (Verleiher-Text)
