Zwei junge Briten wollen raus aus ihrem eintönigen Kleinstadtleben. Als sie vom "Northern Soul" - bestens tanzbarer Black-American-Soul-Musik - hören, planen sie einen Trip nach Amerika. Dort wollen John und Matt noch unbekannte Platten aufstöbern, um als die besten DJs in die Geschichte einzugehen. In den angesagten Clubs entdecken sie neue Beats, coole Dance Moves und heiße Klamotten. Doch die Kehrseite dieses Lebens sind Rivalität, Gewalt und Drogenmissbrauch. Good music, interesting, ultimately romantic story that shows how life was in the 70s in Britain. The characters are interesting, just like the era being portrayed. It may not appeal to everyone, but I quite liked it. It's not a great masterpiece, but does it really matter when you just need to soak in the atmosphere a bit?
