Based on the true story of the death of Zahid Mubarek (Aymen Hamdouchi), a first time offender who was beaten to death by fellow inmate Robert Stewart (Leeshon Alexander). We Are Monster is a fearless look at the culture of racism and ineptitude that led to Mubarek's tragic murder, and a chillingly intense look at Stewart's fractured psyche. Raw and powerful filmmaking, underpinned by Alexander's stunning performance, that strips down and challenges issues on racial tension, hatred and youth violence. (Metrodome Distribution)

Englisch A strong story, which was rather averagely transferred to the screen, but the actual event itself saves it a bit. The problem with the film is that most of the time you are actually watching the internal monologue of the main character, the killer. It is clear that what he is doing is not directly from his own mind, that it is influenced by external factors, but that does not excuse him. What he has done, he has done on his own and out of his own insane will. The final epilogue is a demonstration of justice by civilization. ()
